Break through

Break through

The two parts of the building are, if a tad roughly, officially connected. The ‘brown TARDIS’ has gone and the underfloor heating pipes have been temporarily covered. Not quite as momentous as connecting the two ends of the channel tunnel (how long ago was that? 1994?), but a significant milestone in terms of the build.

Now makes even more sense having a functioning front door:-

In between showers the building had another coat of Osmo (pictures below posted for the love of grain!).

Talking of showers, when it rains it really rains these days (or so it seems)

Inter shower gaps are still filled with ‘hard landscaping’ – the drive wall is getting bigger and the roadside terrace is starting to take shape

The “holes” at the end of the wall are the footings for the gateposts. Remember those being laid? Need to make a decision on what we’re going to build and we ran out of stone, a reasonable excuse to head to the quarry.

More beautiful bits of stone – asked about the flagstones, but at £80 – £85 per square metre, way too expensive for us. The quoins, for the gateposts, reasonable at £18 each (the tumbled stone is £100 a tonne).

Next job? The kitchen.

Flooring chosen and going down. Worktops – templates being taken on Tuesday, but delivery sometime mid-October. S-Box sockets ordered and delivered. Hob and oven, delivery due next week. The ‘missing sink’ ([insert evolution type gag here]) is no longer missing. Next job tonight? Research fridges and freezers – now that’s living!

Quick duck update – The Evil White One is now on her third clutch, zero survivors from the previous two this year.

Of the 8, 6 remain, but growing up fast.

And this lot requested refugee status, sadly refused (local flights must have released a number for the season).
