Paint-Fest
The old barn is seriously small but has the ability to consume gallons litres (let’s go metric) of paint.
The old ‘peachy’ walls take a bit of covering but the white highlights the natural stone and old timbers (eventually).
The beams in the lounge are sanded to lighten the look (slightly less orange, if a little more giraffe).
The walls then get a top coat of ‘architect’s white’ (you may question the architects who picked it, in some lights it’s blue).
The first batch was, well, kind of lumpy – no amount of stirring / shaking would smooth this lot out.
The supplier replaced them, without a question.
Even the old kitchen cupboard doors are repurposed, spruced up and re-knobbed (is that a real word?).
With most of the ceilings and walls painted, we’d normally fit the floor. Ordered, but it will take weeks to supply. To fill the time, we’ve made a start on the downstairs shower room. The sink is ‘fixed’ to the unit with silicone and braced with a big chunk of wood (we will remove that once set!).
Work out where your low and high spots are on the wall and plan the layout carefully e.g. laser line the midpoint and work up and down to find the best balance of full and cut tiles (I clearly didn’t, wasted bucket loads of adhesive and needed the smallest piece to finish the wall!).
Clean out the old adhesive from the floor before grouting
Next stop, the toilet.
And drop in the shower – better give Andy a call to get this one connected.
The weather is holding so back outside to paint the windows (still no sign of the floor).
