Hail Cedar

Hail Cedar

The arrival lacked the comedy of the  Joel and Ethan Coen film, but smelt great (360 linear metres great).

If you’re looking for some, speak to Jack at Haldane Fisher, Garstang (nee Garstang Timber)

The building gets battened out (if that’s not a real phrase, it is now).

Should have uploaded this image to the heating section – there’s a tiger loop crawling up the wall:

The back of the cedar is getting a coat of Osmo UV protection oil, the front will get two once it’s been up a few weeks:

We could play ‘guess the price’ on the PAR we’re using for the corners and around the windows, being seated recommended.

Note the ‘angle’ cut on the profile, water should run off it, difficult to see but there’s a ridge at the bottom of it, defeating the object.

The supplier has agreed to cover the cost of correcting the problem – block plane it away.

The PAR is also the wrong size, more of that later.

Call in the professionals – “Bodie” and “Doyle” get cladding:-

A week or so later:-

Back to the PAR – the degree of variation between the rough surface of the block and the rigid form of the window means we need a matching degree of variation in the cedar surround – 2 x 2 isn’t going to cut it. “Bodie” and “Doyle” have a plan – fire up the capri, cut it, glue it, clamp it (that’s a completely different programme).

Job done?
