Piles and Pointing

Piles and Pointing

We’re not talking about taking a medical trip through the anal vineyard, no, but the last three days, or so, feel like they’ve been spent moving piles of stone and MOT from one place to another. Why? Primarily to complete the first phase of paving. Got to love groundworks, even more so on one of these (again, and this one’s brand new):-

More materials, this job is consuming vast amounts of sand and cement:

Varying degress of success on the re-piling front

Whack away (ear defenders required, this trusty old piece of kit has lost it’s silencer).

And now the paving – I mix, Tom lays (and a fine job he’s doing)

Almost done, pointing to do – better weather required for the ‘all weather’ compound we’re using – easy to understand how it can be laid in all weathers, difficult to know how to stop it floating away when the joints fill with water. The blue pipe is ‘just in case’ i.e. in case we need to run a cable either side for lighting.

Need to avoid filling the slot drain:-

The two rooms upstairs should have the boarding complete and plastered next week. The cupboard frame’s built and we had a leak – fun times – a good reminder to fully, yes fully!, test everything before boarding!
