We’ve gone with black aluminium frames (RAL 9005), good strength but a smaller profile. Ordered from Lostock Hall Glass, needed a longer lead time than the 6 weeks we allocated. Bi-folds will need adjustment and one of the glazing units failed a day after fitting.
Stub cills – needed to be stubbier … screw to the bottom of the frame before installation (really?)
Need to pre-drill and fit the trickle vent. There goes the ‘slim’ profile.
Drill the frame in place and screw through
Glazing inserts – ‘clip’ into place once the glazing is in (‘space’ to even the frame up around the unit).
Then install the seal – the ‘pro’ tip is to soak in water with washing up liquid before pushing into place (to be convinced).
Floor to ceiling frame going in – how much silicon???? There must be a better way of preventing water ingress.
Now the windows are in, the wet-room makes a handy spray booth!
